Wash and soak the rice and toor dal separately for 30 minutes.

Cook the toor dal with turmeric and 3 cups of water until mushy.

In a heavy-bottomed pot, cook the rice with 2 cups of water until it's three-fourths done.

Dry roast the ingredients mentioned for bisi bele bath powder and grind them to a fine powder.

Heat ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds, and let them pop.

Add hing, curry leaves, and chopped vegetables of your choice; sauté for a few minutes.

Add the tamarind juice, jaggery, pre-prepared bisi bele bath masala, cooked dal, and rice. Mix thoroughly.

Add enough water to bring the mixture to a porridge-like consistency and cook for 20 minutes on medium heat.
